Alexandrite undoubtedly stands out as one of the rarer and intriguing gemstones on the gemological scale. The first-ever recorded alexandrite was excavated in the Ural Mountains, Russia during the early 1830s. While the Russian material holds the historic significance, the more recent discovered deposits in Minas Gerais, Brazil is not to be undermined. Most of the fine alexandrites with distinct color changing property and high clarity in today’s market come from Brazil. The finest alexandrites are habitually refer to as “emerald by day, ruby by night” due to its unique optical phenomenon to display greenish blue color in daylight and warm red shade in candlelight. To further contribute to its rarity, gem quality alexandrites are scarcely found in only a few localities in the world with inconsistent supply, while some mines are believed to be nearly or completely depleted.

Each set with a round sapphire cabochon, surrounded by vari-cut rubies, to the diamond-set 'ruyi', suspending two oval-cut ruby and princess-cut diamond tassels terminated with oval sapphire cabochons, mounted in platinum, rubies, sapphires and diamonds weighing approximately 31.80, 31.63 and 5.65 carats in total respectively, length 9.00 cm (2)
Accompanied by a gemological report, firstly, stating that the total approximately 31.63 carat of six natural sapphires are deep violetish blue color (Royal Blue) and have no indication of treatment. Secondly, the total approximately 31.80 carat of thirty natural rubies are vivid pinkish red to vivid red color, originate from Burma and have no indication of treatment.
